Glee
Modern day pop culture takes advantage of whatever is currently prominent in society. Whenever an aspect of culture gains popularity the media takes advantage of it, utilizing all possible genres. Glee, a television program that began in May of 2009, was based on the idea of a high school glee club. Glee Clubs came into existence in the United Kingdom during the 1850's. Although Glee the television series was a completely original idea to television, it was created based on a remediation of a traditional glee club. Almost all schools world wide have glee clubs. Florida state university has one called, All Night Yahtzee. Their glee club is an acapella group which means that they do not use an music except the melodies produced by their own voices. Glee, the hit television series that is currently in its second season, also features an acapella group called the Dalton Academy Warblers.

So after taking into consideration the remediation that the original invention of glee club underwent, there have already been several remediaitons and genre switches using Fox's creation, Glee. Glee has been transformed into attire, live performances, advertisements, and even a lifestyle (Gleek).

The craze over the unique musical style television series kept Glee fans, or Gleeks, thirsty for more Glee! Watching Glee was not enough; they wanted to live in Glee. This insatiable demand for glee led media and created to launch a line of attire. Glee is now not only a show, but also a line of clothing carried at the department store Macy's. People can literally immerse themselves in Glee in a physical sense. The Glee showed set a Glee movement into action. This movement has led to Glee fashion and even Glee live. The cast that people have grown to love and adore switched into a live genre. They went on tour for a limited time and will be going on tour again this year.
In addition to profitable remediations that Glee has utilized across several genres, Glee has also been used in advertisement. Glee raises recycling awareness and promotes volunteering. They use the campaign “Raise Awareness of Recycling and Not being Sue”, this slogan is funny and effective because Sue is the villain of the show. The media has set up the advertisement to suggest that if you do not recycle then you are just like Sue Sylvester, a mean and careless cheerleading coach.
Glee is a hilarious television show that viewers, myself included, have fallen in love with. Its remediations are limitless and look forward to seeing what Glee will bring in the future.
