Are there ever really 'No Strings Attached?'

Tonight for Valentine's day, I saw the movie No Strings Attached with a couple of my friends. Considering we all don't have boyfriends, it was a fun movie to see and spend the night with 3 of my friends who are very important to me. The movie stars Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher so as you can guess the movie was total eye candy for both men and women. This movie is both a comedy and romance (otherwise known as a chick flick). Natalie Portman stars a woman named Emma, and Ashton Kutcher stars a man named Adam. Emma is a non affectionate, independent woman who is afraid of falling in love because she doesn't want to know what it feels like to be hurt by love. She is a doctor at the local hospital in the town of Santa Barbara, California and Adam is a writer who is producing a script for a play.

In the beginning of the movie they run into each other at a local party after several years of not seeing each other. After hanging out a couple of times post party, they decide to become friends with benefits with no strings attached. They both come to the agreement to not fall for each other and just be strictly friends, and that if one of them started to feel any bit of emotion towards the other to stop their scandalous friendship. Of course, especially being a lady we all know that this is not easy and could be very hard to maintain a friendship such as this one. Adam ends up falling for Emma and she agrees to go on just one date with him. While they are out on their date together, Emma has a change of heart. She realizes that Adam has gained feelings for her, and she doesn't want him to so she demands he take her home.

After this, Adam and Emma agree not to speak to each other and go their seperate ways. Six weeks go by without any communication between the two, when Emma suddenly realizes what she has done. She drives to Adam's house where she see's him with another girl (his co-worker) and automatically assumes that it is his new girlfriend and that she is too late. Adam's father is then put into the hospital for an overdose and it just so happens to be the hospital that Emma works at. Emma gets the phone call that Adam's father is in the hospital, so she rushes over to it in hopes of possibly running into Adam. There of course they do meet again, and share their undevying love for each other. They end up starting a serious relationship and are no longer just friends with benefits. Emma realizes how special Adam is and begins to start a relationship with him. The true question: is it possible to have a 'no strings attached' relationship? Or do feelings on either end always come into play? I chose to talk about this movie because I feel that is has a lot to do with how society percieves one type of relationship today. Whether people like to admit it or not, relationships are a huge part of a teenage life in this day in age. The movie was funny, romantic, and an eye opener to the real world. For those of you have not seen this movie, I am terribly sorry for giving away the ending! But for those of you who have, I am sure that you can agree with me when I say this movie was adorable and relates to our lives. I would recommend this movie to just about anyone, and it's definitely a 'must see'!
