Music. It’s something that we encounter every day, right? Without music, where would the soundtrack of our life be? Actually, what would it be? Or, would it even exist? It may be taken for granted, but think about it. Music is all around us. Whenever you jump into your car, one of the first things you probably do is flip on your favorite radio station. Or how about working out? More than likely, people have their IPods in on their favorite playlist. Also, many people enjoy going out on the town every now and then, maybe to a club or bar. Most of these places are normally blaring music and people are dancing. And let’s not forget about concerts and shows. Stadiums and other event arenas are filled to the maximum amount with fans coming to see their favorite artists and bands.
Most every activity we do can involve music, especially with the booming of Apple products like IPods, the IHome, ITunes, etc. From sitting in your room to laying by the pool to going on a run, many people are using these items. Music gives life and excitement to otherwise simple, everyday things. Even a cook at my job brings his IHome everyday to play his favorite music while he works. I know myself, I don’t really mind driving long distances. As long as my IPod is charged, it’s a very enjoyable trip.
Aside from just listening and enjoying music, think about all of the talented people in our world that play music. From piano to guitar to vocals, the artists are endless. For a wide variety of people, the guitar is a very popular instrument to learn and know how to play. Many people like to strum around just relaxing at home or by a bonfire or something of that nature. Many form bands with their friends who play other instruments to collaborate with, like drums, bass guitar, and vocals, to play at local bars and shows and hope to make it someday. Many people play instruments for band in school. These include instruments such as the trumpet, trombone, tuba, clarinet, flute, and many others. They play together as one giant band, sounding more like an orchestra.
Do you ever wonder why basically everyone seems to have some sort of attraction to
music? It’s probably because of the massive variety in genre of music. Think of all the genres you can list off the top of your head. Thinking about it myself, I come up with rock, pop, punk, country, classical, blues, dub step, techno, electronic, hip-hop, rap, house, and dance. I’m sure there are plenty of others, as well as combinations of all of these. There’s also such thing as remixes and mash-ups. A remix is a different version of a certain song. A mash-up is several songs mixed together.

For this blog, I want you to explain what exactly music means to you. This will include when you use it on a daily basis, i.e.) working out, studying, etc. Also, include if you play a musical instrument, (this can be vocals as well), and your background, or story, of how and why you began playing and why you still do. If you don’t personally play one, think of one you
would want to learn and why. Think of some of your favorite genres of music, and explain what is appealing about them to you. Last, if you had to pick, name your top 10 favorite songs of all time. Collaborate and compare with other followers to analyze some common interests. This could be a good opportunity to find out more about your peers. Music is the soundtrack of life.
